Diabetes Shoppe:  Your Partners in Diabetes Care

Remain Informed on Diabetes

There is an explosion of new information available on diabetes care and management.  How do you keep informed on all the new medical advancements happening today?  How do you keep up to date on issues that will affect your health?

Make a commitment to yourself to read about diabetes.  There are many publications devoted solely to diabetes care and management.  One of the best sources for information on diabetes is the book display at your Diabetes Shoppe pharmacy.  There are many books to choose from, including informational books about diabetes, cookbooks, nutrition and exchange books, and books specifically for children with diabetes.  Your Diabetes Shoppe pharmacist can assist you in selecting a book that will help you learn more about living and eating with diabetes.  If there is any specific title or author you are seeking and you do not see the book at the pharmacy, ask your Diabetes Shoppe pharmacist to try to order the book.

Information about diabetes changes rapidly. Books are great, but to get the most current information, became a member of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation (JDF).  ADA members receive the Diabetes Forecast magazine, and JDF members receive Countdown magazine.  Both magazines are interesting and include up-to-date diabetes information.  Call the ADA at 800-232-3472-and the JDF at 800-533-2873 for membership information.

Brochures and pamphlets are another excellent source for diabetes information.  The Diabetes Shoppe pharmacies stock several different brochures and pamphlets on topics ranging from glycosylated hemoglobin testing to meal planning.  During your next visit to your Diabetes Shoppe Pharmacy, make certain you check out the free brochures.

To remain current, make it a habit to ask your Diabetes Shoppe pharmacist about the new books or brochures that are available.
