BHRT at Big C Informational Seminars- Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) informational seminars are held periodically to educate patients who are seeking more information on hormone replacement therapy. The presentation includes a review of hormones and their functions, provides an understanding of pre-, peri-, and post-menopause, and discusses environmental factors which affect hormone levels. In addition, the seminar helps patients to better understand natural hormone replacement therapy and the role of saliva testing plays in beginning and managing therapy. Patients who attend the seminar will take home handouts and other valuable information and will be able to ask questions and participate in a helpful discussion. Saliva Testing- Saliva testing is a science that has been in use for over 20 years and is now available at the individual patient level, allowing for the accurate evaluation of hormone levels in the tissue--where hormone action takes place. Individual Consultations- After patients attend an informational seminar and complete saliva testing, Big C is available to meet with patients regarding individualized hormone replacement therapy. An individual consultation includes a discussion of salivary hormone levels, how symptoms and levels relate, and an opportunity for the patient to ask questions. Big C pharmacist David McSwain has the knowledge and experience to discuss your symptoms, salivary hormone levels, and specific questions regarding BHRT. Big C can also provide a recommendation to you and your physician regarding hormone replacement options. Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Compounding- At this point in time, bioidentical hormone replacement products are very limited in the commercial market. Therefore, a compounding pharmacist must prepare your compounded prescription based on an order from your physician. Bioidentical hormones can be prepared in a variety of dosages and forms including creams, gels, capsules, suppositories, etc. Big C will work with you and your physician to tailor a natural hormone replacement to meet your unique needs. Follow-up and Monitoring- Following the beginning of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, Big C will continue to work with you and your physician to tweak your treatment until it's just right for your needs. Follow-up services include therapy re-evaluation and one-on-one discussions on the phone or in person.
